I met two UP freshmen today who were AdMU High grads. Their group of friends interests me because they’re more outgoing than your average freshman. After a lively discussion on ambition, they thanked me for welcoming them so warmly to UP. We’ll be meeting again on Thursday to talk about the greatest ambition imaginable.
One of the two said that he has always been ambitious. (Which showed in how he was so friendly.) May these rise to the call of unadulterated ambition.
While we’re on the topic of people who initiate success… Rael shared that he has been bothered with something: how to share his faith with friends. God’s Spirit is at work, Rael. Looks like you and Mike should hook up soon.
Please pray that this stirring God is doing in peoples’ hearts would get out of control.
So here’s a little teaser for you partners. The party on the 18th is led by students, not staff. That excites me because that’s a potential sign of growth-bigger-than-myself. Here they are practicing some moves:

And oh, the one choreographing is actually a freshman (lady in white shirt on the right.) Please pray that many more would own Stillwaters as a result of the party.
(Again, you’re invited!
)
Just saw a picture from this week, thought you might want to see it. Here’s a photo of Thursday house church’s worship service:

This was one of the longest weeks of our lives. Jesus is glorified in its finish.
Dear partners, meet and greet the students and professionals of our stories. You’re invited to the S’mores party! Your presence would be encouraging.
This week has been filled with memorable moments. Flo and I had distinguished guests at our home tonight:

These are men of God from UP Campus Crusade for Christ. The guys of their staff team came over for a night of unwinding and bonding. This was a thrill for me. (Center, with the cheekbones.
) Two reasons:
- Male bonding.
- Unity between Stillwaters and UPCCC unlike ever before.
Please pray that this partnership would result in the raising up of mighty men. Thanks ministry partner!

It’s official. They have no leaders at the moment.
With integrity intact, these have chosen to step down from their posts. They shared their situation with the church during service today. It felt almost like a terminal moment. Almost.
The congregation must’ve sensed the resurrection power of Jesus in them. There was a buzz in the post-sermon discussion groups. Encouragement spread even through tears. The climax for me was when we took communion; a clear message from God that He would sustain us to the end.
I have a good feeling this house church will persevere. The mutual concern shown during the service comforted me. Now, the staff team cannot take over for student leaders. Everyday community life and discipleship groups will continue. Only thing is, there won’t be worship services until new leaders are raised up.
Please pray that this house church would grow unstoppable leaders. It’s already showing signs of that strength. Thanks. We love you ministry partner.
“Once good-for-nothing guys like us… now making a difference. Amazing.”
This was the sentiment Mike and I shared this afternoon. Remember how Mike was engaging with freshmen? Well, one freshman came back to him meet again. For the first time, Mike gave a presentation of the Gospel. Mike was so nervous! But he moved forward and the freshman heard the Gospel. They’re set to meet for Bible study next week.
How refreshing to see God transforming Mike! I was reminded of the great privilege given to him and me. Once worthless men made ushers of eternal life. Thank You sweet Jesus.
Let's join Ethan's miracle journey!
